A Thayer County student was crowned Miss Nebraska 2017 in North Platte on Saturday. Allison Tietjen of Chester took home first place at the Miss Nebraska Pageant after a week of eventsweek of events and competitions, showcasing both style and intellect.
Tietjen, a 21-year-old student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will take home $13,050 in scholarships and an estimated in $13,000 in gifts, wardrobe and other services.
Miss Nebraska will also traverse the state for the next year to advocate for veterans and active military member, Tietjen’s platform during the pageant.
Miss Omaha Wellesley Michael, 20, was first runner up and Miss Kearney Jessica Shultis claimed second runner up.
Tietjen will represent Nebraska at the 2018 Miss America Pageant in September.
The Miss Nebraska Scholarship Pageant is part of the Miss Nebraska Organization, which awards more than $40,000 in cash scholarships at the yearly pageant.
