The Costa Rica pageant director, where candidates are normally judged and a winner selected, announced that no pageant would be held this year, reported Channel 7 TV Teletica.
The formal crowning of Correa as Costa Rica’s representative to the 2017 Miss Universe pageant will be held in August. The Teletica TV network said they will not be producing the Miss Costa Rica pageant this year due to complications in their broadcast schedule during the second half of the year, according to René Picado, Teletica president.
The 26-year-old Correa was one of three in a third-way tie for runner up in the Miss Costa Rica 2016 pageant.
Correa hails from Heredia and is 1.82m tall. She is a medical student with studies in business administration as well. She has represented Costa Rica in recent years at the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year in Malaysia, at Miss Model of the World in China, and at the Miss Supranational 2013 pageant held in Minsk, Belarus.
