Ten women were presented on August 1 who will be vying for the title of Miss Universe Barbados 2017. The winner will have the chance to represent their country on the world stage at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant.
The presentation of the candidates happened at the Bluberry Beach Club at Brandons, St. Michael. The 10 young ladies received their official Miss Universe Barbados Delegate sash from reigning Miss Universe Barbados, Shannon Harris and 2016 delegate, Ukweli Wilson.
The 2017 delegates are: Shahaida Lynch, Jamilah Forde, Shanice Mason, Lesley Chapman-Andrews, Alicia Trotman, Mutamuliza Cutting, Chakra Callender, Shadae Watson, Te-Keila Rochester and Che Amor Greenidge.
They were joined by family, friends and supporters as well as the management team of local franchise holder, Crown Events Inc., who revived the local competition last year.
The delegates will begin an intense 40-hour weekly schedule of training in physical exercise, etiquette, deportment, public speaking, and life coaching – all in preparation for Coronation Night on September 16.
