For the first time in Miss Universe history, it will have a representative from the country of Nepal. The Miss Nepal Organization was granted franchise rights to send its first delegate to the pageant this year.
26-year-old Nagma Shrestha was chosen by the organization to be their first Miss Universe Nepal. She will travel to Phoenix, Arizona to compete for Miss Universe, scheduled for November 26.
She represented Nepal in Miss Earth 2012 in the Philippines where she reached the top 8 and became the first ever beauty queen from Nepal to reach the finals in an international pageant. She was also the 3rd runner up in World Miss University 2016 in China. She is the winner of Best Tourism Video award at Miss Eco Universe 2016 in Egypt. She completed her BBA course from Times Business School. She has been a VJ for Image Channel since 2009 through shows like SMS N More, Music of Your Choice and On The Road. She is a producer and presenter of her new show Steps, a travel show,which is currently being aired on Image Channel.
She is also the goodwill ambassador of Childreach Nepal and Ujayalo Foundation and is actively involved in social works.
