The Miss Peru 2018 beauty pageant took place on October 30, and though the competition for the crown was fierce, all 23 beautiful contestants proved that they could come together when it really mattered in order to make a difference for the millions of other women in their nation.
When it came time for the contestants to take to the stage to publicly share their bust, waist, and hip measurements, they instead powerfully shared a staggering series statistics relating to hate crimes against women in their home country.
The women dazzled on the stage in shimmering gold sequins gowns as they all followed the lead of the first contestant who began her speech with the expected ‘My measurements are’, before continuing with an unexpected message that resounded much more powerfully than her figure sizes.
At the end, 20-year-old Romina Lozano Saldana was crowned Miss Peru 2018. She will represent Peru at the 2018 Miss Universe Pageant. First runner up went to 22-year old Andrea Moberg. She will compete at the 2018 Miss Grand International, in which the current Miss Grand Peru took the crown. Second runner up went to 23-year-old Kelin Rivera and will represent her country at Miss Supranational 2018.
