22-year-old Julia Crane, of Colchester was crowned Miss Vermont 2018 at the Chandler Center for the Arts on Saturday evening. Crane is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences, a degree she earned Cum Laude. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health, also from the University of Vermont, and expects to graduate in the fall. She performed a tap dance to Hey Momma/Hit the Road Jack by Pentatonix in the talent portion of the competition.
In addition to the title of Miss Vermont, Julia Crane earned $5000 in cash scholarships, including a $1000 Stowe Rotary scholarship, and $3550 of in-kind scholarships to Dale Carnegie of Vermont. An award-winner at the Miss Vermont competition for several years prior to her win last night, Julia has earned over $11,000 in cash scholarships to further her education from the Miss Vermont Scholarship Organization and Miss America Organization.
Julia lives her platform “Be a Hero: Be an Organ Donor” through her many years promoting organ donation and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including the Vermont Children’s Hospital at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Miss Vermont 2018 will represent the state at the 2019 Miss America pageant in historic Atlantic City on September 9th.
