20-year-old Social Communication student, Valeria Morales, was crowned Miss Colombia 2018 and will be the country’s representative to the 2018 Miss Universe Pageant in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17. The ceremony was held for the first time in Medellin.
Miss Antioquia, Isabella Atehortúa finished first runner up while Miss Chocó, Alma Beatriz Díaz, placed second runner up.
Morales will live the shortest reign in the history of the contest, since its sole objective will be to represent Colombia in Miss Universe 2018, whose regulations require that a candidate be elected on September 30 at the latest, according to the president of Miss Colombia, Raimundo Angulo. For this reason, in November, Miss Colombia 2019 will be elected in Cartagena, as part of the Fiestas de la Independencia, as is the tradition in this event.
